20 Week Pregnancy Update

I am back with my 20 week update ๐Ÿ™‚

This week was quite happening as this week marked the mid point of my pregnancy. YIPPIIEEE I am half way through!! We celebrated at TGIF with hubby’s friends and did a lot of baby shopping as well!! Will mention the details in my next post. Few products are still to reach me. I met some close friends this week too. Meeting friends now is a luxury in itself. I was bedridden the first four months with bad nausea, vomiting and other complications so now the fact that I can get up and move out is a blessing. I am also trying to go for regular nightly walks with hubby. Its too sweaty here so I am not so consistent yet. Its helping my heartburn so that is a huge motivation.
I experienced a huge difference in baby movements this week. Baby has been super active with his/her karate sessions. The punches and kicks are already making me sore but then obviously I love every second of it ๐Ÿ™‚

I started a bit of nesting this week. Trying to sort out stuff and empty a cupboard which will be then stuffed with baby bits ๐Ÿ™‚ I cant wait to finish the setting and click pics for you all.
Next week is going to be super busy and tiring for me. One of my fur babies has an operation scheduled for this saturday. Hope all goes well. Do pray for him.

On a little sour note some people around me have been commenting on my body like how its changing and getting fatter and i’ll be piling on loads of kilos at all wrong places etc etc. It does no good for a pregnant lady’s body image. I am quite comfortable with my body but just an advice for anyone who sees a pregnant lady around-Please do not make her conscious of her body and pass stupid comments. It does no good. A pregnant lady is already going through numerous changes physically, emotionally as well as mentally. She needs to eat well and gain weight for her baby-quite obvious. Ok vent over ๐Ÿ™‚

I made some dietary changes this week. I do not like fruits somehow but I have been eating loads this week all thanks to hubby. I am surely going to continue with it. It has really helped with acidity and bloating ๐Ÿ™‚ My hemoglobin went down a little this week. Doc said its normal for second trimester and goes a little lower in the third. I am filling my tummy with lots of apples and palaak paneer along with few other things. Life is all about food now lol. I love to eat so no complaints at all ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Nausea – quite bad in evenings but not throwing up yet
2. Headaches
3. lower backache
4. Drowsiness

Hubby felt the baby kicks and jabs this week!! yayy

Noticeable difference in bump since I posted my last pic here. I am super loving it! See yourself ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE this t-shirt. It says – I Love My Bump. cute eh!

  4. Hi,

I just happened to read your blog…Wish you good with your pregnancy.. I am now 23 weeks pregnant…I completely agree with you on the weight gain part…People simply comment on your weight gain and make you feel bad, where in you are in such a condition that no way you can reduce your weight…Looking forward to read your further updates

  5. Navneet Thethi says:

The t-shirt is so cute Shefali. n u r glowing
Lots of fruits are needed during pregnancy, but the thing is we need something tasty, I just entered my 2nd trimester, and feel hungry all the time.
    lots of gastric probs also

  6. Hey Shef, great to read your updates..I wish you all the best in your journey towards motherhood..I have one small piece of advice for you here, my doc had advised me NOT to eat Palak Paneer..why because palak has Iron and Paneer has Calcium and when you have Calcium with Iron, the Iron absorption in blood decreases by a huge percentage. You can google a bit about it and know more. It’s, therefore, better to have the two separately. Perhaps, dal palak or aloo palak and paneer in some other form, best when eaten raw or slightly tossed or grilled..
    Enjoy your pregnancy..have fun!!

    • Wow, that’s new. My doc told me that calcium needs iron, vitamin d and vitamin c to get absorbed in the body. Hence they should be eaten together or atleast we should make sure that we get enough of calcium, iron, vitamin d and vitamin c all in one day.

    • oh yeah mine too told me too have iron after lunch n calcium after dinner.. i totally forgot about paalak paneer.. will have them alag alag now! thanks soooo much to bringing it to my notice!! :))

  7. Navneet ..congratulations..time flies..yesterday only u were 5 weeks ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Navneet Thethi says:

      Thanks Ana, ya, time flies..
Having lots of skin n hair probs, do a post regarding these issues na plzz

  8. Shef…i don know how people can be so rude telling you about weight and all ..i must tell you that you look fantastic…Also, i and zee lost all are pregnancy weight..its donchya worry..

    • Thanx ana.. those females were my age but total aunty types. I hate to say this that they are most of the time jealous and were just looking for a chance to lower my confidence. I did get conscious for a while but after a while i was ok.

      • Tarun Preet says:

Shef, next time when they comment na , give them a stared look n ask “are you talking to me, I thought you are as usual bitchin about someone ” . Sometimes this also works – when some one says something bad, give them your most beautiful smile ๐Ÿ˜‰ . They will have their dose that they need ๐Ÿ˜›

  9. I see u n zee as a role model! I m sure i ll be able to get rid of the extra weight ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. When you gain weight they will point it out but when you lose it they won’t say anything just chill…By the way ..i never seen any one saying this to a preggi lady who is supposed to be happy all the time..Those aunties are really mean i must say.

  11. Shef u look great! Ignore those mean aunties!

  12. Hi Shef,

Congratulationsssss on the halfway mark! ๐Ÿ™‚

I must say I find your blog updates/entries fun to read, very informative and helpful. I am TTC now and it’s exciting to read your experiences and feelings, and await experiencing them myself too someday (God willing). I love the positivity that emanates from your thoughts and words. Keep it up all throughout the pregnancy and otherwise too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am glad that you have come this far after having gone down the other road for so long. I can see that you’re glowing and you look absolutely fab, so you need not worry about those weird minded ‘so-called’ women. I find it odd how women can be so cruel sometimes even though they might have been/might be in the same phase themselves. It is sad to see how people have become so insensitive lately. They’re best ignored.

I love your dresses, the tee and your overall look. I think it’s important to dress in feel good clothes and be fashionable (yet comfortable) even in pregnancy, which is often overlooked traditionally, as it boosts your confidence. Like you rightly said, as one is undergoing physical, hormonal, emotional changes anyway… finding oneself in drab, shapeless clothes and dressed down can also affect one in a not so good way. So keep going the way you are, shop as you like, dress your best and keep up the good fruity diet! ๐Ÿ™‚

All the best for the coming weeks too! God bless! ๐Ÿ™‚

PS – Good luck for your fur baby’s surgery. I’ll keep him in my prayers. Don’t you worry, it will go fine and he’ll be all well in the blink of an eye. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Hello Shefali,

you look absolutely stunning and your skin is glowing. Please give a deaf ear to those insensitive aunties… they are mean and jealous! congratulations on the 20 weeks.. please eat loads of fruits and look after yourself. GBU.. tc

  14. Hope this made you feel better Shef ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Absolutely ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
