Spinach Recipes With Cheese For Toddlers & Kids

Mommies love spinach because of its multiple health benefiting properties and high nutritional compositions, but kids are more interested in a tasty dish and health concerns take a back seat in such a case. Kids usually ignore veggies but will always pick those thick burgers and slim pizzas, ever wondered why do they always dig in for pizzas and burgers, the one common thing in Cheese.

Cheese is one protein rich ingredient that almost every kid loves. How about pairing Spinach and Cheese together to make a healthy yet tempting dish? This definitely is a great thing to do.

Today I shall share five yummy Cheesy-Spinach recipes for kids & toddlers. Read on.

Spinach Lasagna

 

Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • One 24- or 26-ounce jar pasta sauce
  • One 18-20-ounce refrigerated large cheese ravioli
  • One 10-ounce box frozen chopped spinach, thawed and excess water squeezed dry
  • One 8-ounce bag shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated Parmesan

Method:

  1. Heat oven to 375° F.
  2. Pour a thin layer of sauce over the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch baking dish and spread.
  3. Cover with a single layer of ravioli.
  4. Top with half the spinach, half the mozzarella, and a third of the sauce.
  5. Repeat with step 2 and 3 to form another layer of ravioli and the remaining spinach, mozzarella, and half the remaining sauce.
  6. Top with another layer of ravioli and the remaining sauce (not all the ravioli may be needed).
  7. Sprinkle with the Parmesan.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Uncover and bake for another 5 – 10 minutes or until bubbly.

Creamed Spinach Gratin

 

Creamed Spinach Gratin

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for the dish
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 5 small onions, thinly sliced crosswise
  • 5 10-ounce boxes frozen spinach, thawed or fresh ones, whichever you can get.
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Method:

  • Heat oven to 375° F.
  • Rub the sides and bottom of a greased 8-inch baking dish with the garlic; Discard garlic after rubbing.
  • In a skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onions and cook until softened.
  • Squeeze the spinach to remove any excess liquid.
  • In a large bowl, mix the spinach, cream cheese, heavy cream, milk, Swiss cheese, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and onions.
  • Transfer to dish.
  • Bake, uncovered, until bubbling and lightly golden, this will take for about 25 minutes.

5 Dinner Recipes For Toddlers - CHEESU SPINACH SQUARES

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) whole milk
  • 1 cup (5 oz/155 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 lb (500 g) Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 lb (500 g) chopped frozen spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1/4 cup (1 oz/30 g) grated Parmesan cheese

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a 9-by-13-inch (23-by-33-cm) rimmed baking sheet or baking dish with parchment paper and pour the melted butter into the prepared pan and spread to coat evenly.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until well blended. Whisk in the milk, flour, baking powder and salt. Add the Cheddar and spinach and stir until combined.
  4. Pour the spinach mixture into the prepared pan and spread in an even layer.
  5. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Bake until the top is lightly browned and the juices are bubbling, this will take around 20-30 minutes.
  7. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool until just warm to the touch.
  8. Cut into 2-inch (5-cm) squares and serve.

Spinach, Tomato  and Cheese Omelet

 

Spinach, Tomato  and Cheese Omelet

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup spinach, roughly chopped
  • Half a large tomato or 1 plum tomato, diced
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, beat eggs with milk.
  2. Add spinach and tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over low to medium heat.
  4. Add eggs and swirl to coat bottom of pan. Let eggs set for about 2 minutes.
  5. Place cheese slices on one side of omelet. Gently fold other half over the top of the cheese. Press slightly.
  6. Allow cheese to melt, about 1 minute. Remove from pan, serve with whole wheat toast, and enjoy!

Cheesy Spinach Pasta

 

Cheesy Spinach Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 2 big handfuls fresh spinach
  • 1 cup uncooked pasta
  • 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 4 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated

Method:

  1. Cook the pasta according to directions on the package.
  2. Melt the butter in a small frying pan and sauté the spinach until just wilted.
  3. Combine the spinach with milk and cheeses and ground finely in a food processor.
  4. Mix with the cooked pasta.
  5. Serve
