5 Toddler Chinese Food Recipes

Chinese food is favourite of many kids. It has lots of vegetables so Chinese food is healthy too. Some recipes are quick while other may take more time but end result is always fantastic. If your kids are also into Chinese foods then try your hand at these kid-friendly Chinese food recipes-

Orange Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound chicken breast, cubed, boneless, skinless
  • 1 cup snow peas, halved
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch thin strips

Recipe

  • Take orange juice, ginger, honey, garlic and soy sauce in a bowl and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a pan and cook chicken in it for 3 minutes.
  • Add in the vegetables and cook for 2 more minutes and keep aside.
  • Take the earlier prepared sauce in a pan and bring it to boil. Cook till it is halved.
  • Add the chicken and vegetables mixture to the sauce and cook for a minute.

Noodles with Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. spaghetti noodles
  • 2 cups chopped broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
  • 2-3 chopped spring onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell peppers

Recipe

  • Cook noodles al dente. Add in chopped broccoli to the cooking noodles 5 minutes before they are cooked. Drain.
  • Take soy sauce, garlic, honey, olive oil and sesame oil in a bowl and whisk to make dressing.
  • Add noodles and broccoli to the sauce. Add in spring onions and red pepper and stir.

Quick Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup orange marmalade
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. minced ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tsp. oil

Recipe

  • Place chicken pieces in a zip-lock bag along with cornstarch. Shake to coat chicken with cornstarch.
  • Whisk soy sauce, marmalade, garlic, ginger, salt, black pepper and pepper flakes in a bowl.
  • Heat oil in a pan and cook chicken in it.
  • Add in the sauce, toss and mix well.

Spring Rolls

Ingredients

  • 10 to 12 spring roll wrappers
  • 1/4 cup of cabbage, shredded
  • 1/4 cup of carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup of green bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup of onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • flour paste – 3 tablespoons plain flour dissolved in 1/4 cup water
  • oil for deep frying

Recipe

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the vegetables in it.
  • Season with salt and black pepper. Let the mixture cool down completely.
  • Place a spring roll wrapper on a flat surface. Apply a little flour paste along the edges of the wrapper. Place a tablespoon of the filling at one edge of the wrapper. Fold and roll till the center.
  • When you reach the center, fold the ends arising from the center. Apply the flour paste again on the edges and roll until you reach the end.
  • Make the rest of the rolls in the same way.
  • Deep fry the rolls on medium heat till they turn golden-brown.
  • Serve with any dip.

Easy Fried Rice

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked rice
  • 2 tbsp.  oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup sliced spring onions
  • 1 large carrot, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 4 oz. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium red pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh bean sprouts
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

Recipe

  • Heat some oil in a pan and scramble the egg for a minute and take it out.
  • Add more oil in pan and add garlic, spring onions, carrot, celery, mushrooms and red pepper.
  • Add rice when vegetables are cooked and stir fry.
  • Add in beans, scrambled egg and soy sauce, Stir fry for 2 more minutes and serve.
