Moong Dal Chilla Recipe

This is one healthy recipe for your toddler. The recipes also allows you to add chopped vegetables or edible leaves into the batter. A good filler for the tiny stomach.

Recipe:

1. Soak the moong dal for 1-2hrs
2. Blend the soaked dal in the mixee along with the powders until the paste becomes really smooth. You can add water to adjust the consistency but don’t add too much. The batter needs to be of the same consistency as Dosa batter.
3. Add the onion and chopped coriander leaves along with salt to this batter.
4. Grease and heat a non-stick pan on a medium flame. You can use butter or ghee to grease the utensil. You may opt to use regular oil too if you have introduced this to your kid already.
5. Once heated, pour the mixture onto the pan and spread with a spoon. If you havent added onions then the batter would spread like a dosa itself.
6. Dribble some butter/ghee/oil on the surface and flip the pancake in about 1min
7. Keep it on the flame till done and flip it over onto your plate
8. Voila! Your moong dal chilla is ready to be served.

Creamy Paneer Spinach Sandwich

Paneer Spinach Sandwich is a great option for the untimely hunger pangs of toddlers. While the sandwich is interesting in taste, it is also a healthy recipe.

Recipe:

For sandwich stuffing

  • Heat oil in a pan add onion and stir till onion become translucent, fry for a minute and then add spinach and let it cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Now add chat masala, salt, pepper and fry for 1 more minute on medium flame.
  • Switch off the stove and take the paneer & cheese and mix it properly.
  • Your stuffing is ready. Normally for a sandwich the  filling should be more on the dry side otherwise sandwich will not turn out crunchy & crispy

Preparing the sandwich

  • First of all spray a little amount of oil or butter whatever you wish to give to your toddler on the sandwich maker base.
  • Now put one slice on a plate and spread the paneer & cheese mixture properly and top it up with another slice.
  • Toast the sandwich in the grilled sandwich maker until it turns golden brown in color.

Toor Dal & Mixed Vegetable Rice Recipe

Mixed vegetables, rice and toor dal together in this recipe makes a great lunch and dinner option for kids. The nutritional factors are well covered while it also fills heavily.

Recipe:

  • In a pressure cooker add half cup toor dal, chopped vegetables and water (more than half cup) and cook. Keep aside.
  • In a pan, take some tamarind juice. Boil the tamarind juice and jaggery.
  • Now add the boiled toor dal and vegetables to it.
  • Add salt as per taste, masala powder of your choice, chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves to the pan.
  • Add clean coriander and curry leaves. Boil everything well for about one minute.
  • Now add cooked rice and mix well.

Recipe:

In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt. Make a well in the center, and pour in milk, egg and oil. Mix until smooth.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides.

Serve with honey or maple juice.

Broccoli & Barley Soup Recipe

Soups are all purpose food for kids. Especially when boiled vegetables are included in the soup, toddlers learn to chew the soft vegetables

Recipe:

  • Soak about a fistful of pearl barley in water for half an hour. Keep aside.
  • Heat water in a thick bottom pot vessel. When the water boils, add the tiny pieces of broccoli and let it boil.
  • Now, drain the water in which barley was soaked.
  • Add fresh water to the barley and make fine paste of the same. Also add a tiny piece of garlic while blending.
  • Add the barley and garlic paste to the vessel in which broccoli is being boiled.
  • Keep stirring without stopping.
  • Boil for at least 10 minutes. Add water if needed to adjust the consistency.
  • Add few drops of soya sauce. And also salt as per the taste.
  • Boil for a couple of more minutes and switch the flame off.
