5 Ways To Give Peas To Toddlers

Peas Puree

Buy fresh peas. Search for the pods that are intact and are bright green in colors. Remove peas from the pod, place the peas in a colander and wash them with cold water. Cook the peas in a steamer for 3 to 5 minutes or until they are tender. Puree peas in a food processor or blender until smooth. Add water to achieve desired consistency. Pea puree is even more delicious when mixed with sweeter veggies, yogurt, and rice.

  • 2 cups  frozen/ fresh peas
  • 2 tablespoons  olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons  fresh mint
  • 1 teaspoon  lemon peel
  • Dash salt and pepper


  1. Saute peas in olive oil on medium for 2 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and add fresh mint, lemon peel, and a dash of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Serve

Green Peas Pulao Recipe


Homemade Cerelac Recipe For Toddlers And Kids - BROWN RICE


  • 1 cup – Basmati rice
  • ¾ cup Onion chopped
  • 1-2 Green chilies chopped ( If your kid can have it)
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 cup Green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • Fistful of Fresh mint leaves
  • Fistful of Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste.

For the seasoning :

  • 1 ½ tbsp Oil or ghee
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1 Cardamom
  • 2 Inch piece Cinnamon


  1. Soak basmati rice for 20 minutes. Now cook the rice on one stove. Do not overcook, cook only till they are tender.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and add the seasoning ingredients. Sauté these for a few seconds, then add  chopped onions, green chilies. Sauté onions till they turn golden brown.
  3. Now add ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute or two. Add peas, chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves.
  4. Just when the peas are tender, add salt and give it a quick stir. Add pre cooked rice and mix everything very well and gently so that the rice do not break.
  5. Serve warm with raita or paneer gravy.

Quick Peas Soup

  • Peas (1 cup)
  • Medium Onion (sliced)
  • Small carrot ( sliced)
  • Cumin Powder ( 1-2 pinches
  • Salt (1 pinch)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro leaves (finely chopped)


  1. Place a pan on low flame and spray olive oil. Add onion & carrots and saute until they turn soft.
  2. Now add fresh shelled peas in the pan and let it cook for a while. Sprinkle a pinch of salt.
  3. Add one cup water and let it boil. Transfer ingredients in a blender and blender until puree is formed. Sprinkle cumin powder & garnish with fresh chopped cilantro leaves.
  4. Serve lukewarm to your kid.

Peas Paratha

5 Parathas Recipes For Toddlers And Kids- Vegetable Paratha


For the dough

  • 1 cupwhole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tspghee

For the stuffing

  • 1/2 tbspghee
  • 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1 cupboiled green peas, mashed
  • Saltto taste, Pepper to taste

*Extra oil/ghee will be needed for roasting the paratha.


  1. Combine the ingredients of the dough to knead in a soft dough. Divide the dough in four portions.
  2. To prepare the stuffing heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add mashed peas.
  3. Add salt and pepper and mix well.
  4. Cool completely and divide the stuffing into 4 equal portions. Keep aside.
  5. Now roll out one portion of the dough into a circle.
  6. Place one portion of the stuffing over the rolled dough and bring together all the sides of the dough in the centre and seal.
  7. Roll again. Do not exert much pressure while rolling and be gentle.
  8. Heat a non-stick pan and cook each paratha using little oil until both sides are golden brown.
