How Much Your Toddler Needs To Be eating

This is the question that most moms deal with. Every child is different and so are their nutrition needs. When your child is between 1-3 years they are considered active and their calorie needs are almost needs. Toddlers need somewhere between 1000 and 1400 calories everyday.

Here are some nutrients that your kid needs the most-

Nuts, meat, fish, eggs and pulses are some of the foods that should be given to toddlers regularly. Foods high in protein and iron should be given to kids two times a day. These foods are essential for proper growth and muscle building.

Carbohydrates

Potatoes, cereals, rice, couscous, breads and pasta are some of the foods that are rich in carbohydrates. These foods keep your child energetic throughout the day. Whole-grains are good and full of fibre. You can mix them with n0n whole-grains for better taste.

Every fruits and vegetable has its own benefits. Toddlers get multiple nutrients with regular consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. Vitamins, calcium and other minerals are present in high quantities in these foods. Start with their favourites but keep giving some new varieties as well.

Milk, yogurt, butter and varieties of cheese are must for toddlers unless they are lactose intolerant. Calcium in dairy, keeps kids bones and teeth strong. Dairy foods can be given thrice a day.

Give them the foods of their choice too. Most kids love sugary foods and drinks. Other fatty junk foods also rank high in kids’ favourite foods list. Try and restrict such foods to once or twice a week. Give junk foods in small portions. Foods like burgers, cakes and biscuits are to be avoided.
