Is gripe water safe?

Gripe water is safe when used as directed but you should consult your pediatrician if you have any concerns about using it.  The expiry date to a bottle is about 2 years.  It is good to keep a bottle of this especially when you travel.  It is not always that a doctor is available and the slightest discomfort in a child is unbearable.  It is a sturdy and travel friendly bottle.

  16. Dr. Man Mohan Saxena says:

Regarding Harmful Preservatives in Gripe Water: Most of us never read ingredient list on so called ayurvedic preparations. Even if we read, hardly we know the property of some, and the amount added is never mentioned. Sodium benzoate, Methyl paraben and Propyl paraben are harmful to even elder people and have dangerous side effects. So be careful when using such preparations. Excessive use can be dangerous. Please read about the long term cardiovascular effects of parabens, it is available on websites.
