Normal Or Cesarean Delivery?

Now that I am in my 38th week of pregnancy I can be a good example for those who are working hard and hoping for a normal delivery.Throughout my pregnancy I have been pretty active and never missed walking but  still as every one says that there is no magic wand or guarantee for 100% normal delievery which upset me a bit .I seriously don’t want my hard work to go waste.

Since the end of my 37th week I have been walking one and half hour minimum and doing exercise prescribed by the doctor. It takes lot of effort at this point of time when Delhi’s  temperature is 40 degree C and with 3kg of weight in under my belly .But my father really supports me and stay besides me all the time during my walks which makes the effort bearable.

It’s makes a lot of difference if you stay with your family or with some loved ones during this period.Their love and support eases out lot of stress. No amount of phone calls can give you that much of upliftment as few loving person beside you all the time.My husband was a good support but as he use to go to office I use to feel all alone and depressed during the first trimester which is the most difficult time and now I think if I should  have called my loved ones in my first trimester  then things would have been pretty easy.

Coming to the Normal delievery effort which I am  taking now or have taken throughout my pregnancy:-

  1. Everyone suggest you to take balanced diet excluding of junk food which  include cold drink , icecreams, pastries etc :O.Throughout my pregnancy I have kept the intake of these things really low.In one week I use to keep Sunday as the day when I  would let my self binge and  rest of the time I use to have Indian bread(chapati),bit of rice, lots of salad and fruits and drink water as much as possible.Right now I have maggi and burger craving all the time but still I try not to indulge .
  2. Since fifteen days I have been doing gentle exercises to keep my body flexible especially from the pelvic reason.
  3. Most of the times I keep myself  happy and stress free.
  4. Practicing deep breathing exercise – I won’t say I have been regular with deep breathing through out but since a month I am doing it.
  5. In India elderly people advise us to mop floor. I can’t believe but I have done that also but not regularly.
  6. My gyna asked me to do Kegal and squatting which I have been doing since my eight month.
  7. I am not afraid of pain but bit scared about the whole process and have stopped watching all the baby birth you tube videos. They are scary indeed.

I am writing this post so that when my baby arrive I can update you whether my hard work paid up or not 😛

Don’t forget to share your Normal /Cesarean experience .Also,do share tips for normal pregnancy if you have any 🙂

  1. very helpful post for all of those who really wañt & hope for normal delivery. the most common effort for normal delivery is to try as active as possible but that doesnt mean that u overly do it, specially during 1st trimester & 7th month. I was overly active in my 7th month & got soul sucking poin below my nàvel 🙁

  2. thas should not over exert but try to be active as possible..and more than seven month eight month is more crucial ..a child if delivered in seven month still survives but rarely in eight month.(as heard and read)

  3. yeah I heard the same but I guess it is just a myth. Anyone has any idea??

  4. all the best Ana.. keep up the spirit! God bless! 🙂

  5. i think grannies say to mob floor just to make preggies active, otherwise they wd just relaxing.. grannies at our place ask the preggies to clean using a v short broomstick so that they bend well and exercise:)

  6. Good luck for a normal delivery Anamika!

  7. Madhura says:

even i was told to sweep and mop the floor but i stayed away from it. bearing 5.5kgs of baby weight i couldn’t take a chance or rather i would say i couldn’t bend bcoz of big belly.

do whatever u feel is comfortable and safe for u. probably it was said to do so as it would help to position the baby. do not overexert urself as baby and ur well being is of utmost importance.

    • how can they ask you Madhura..5.5kgs is too much of a weight .

      • Madhura says:

they thought even though i had twins it was similar as carrying a single baby.
they nvr imagined what i might be going through bcoz i looked and behaved normal.
i never told my belly was heavy. so nobody knew how it was.
it was surprising for them when they came to know the weight of the babies after delivery. my son weighed 2.5kg and daughter 3kgs which is very good weight for newborns considering very few twins reach over 2kg mark.

        • yes Madhura a 3 kg twin is an awesome achievement. that way you must have not struggled with their health na? I am kind of relaxed in terms of my baby weight and health because in 39th week she is totally grown up 🙂

  8. hahaha.. i hope u hav a normal delivery after this… so much effort.. lik u no i did nothin.. 😛 mera delivery was very/… hmm.. i had forceps delivery.. so wen i was yellin wid pain the doc decided it was the right time to give me injections so.. u no.. the doc makes most use out o ur pain.. n after i had delivered she had started stitching things back.. thats wen the pediatrician wrapped up kabir n got him n trust me i didn feel all emotional n al.. then i tho the doc might think i’m heartless so i started staring at tried bring some tears.. didn work coz i was too caught up wid happenin something down under.. lolz… n don b crazy to watch videos… its so freaky.. i freaked after delivery wen i saw a video to c wat i went thru.. lol…

  9. Dun worry,A:)
    So many prayers r wid u! 😀

  10. Hey Ana … May god bless u 🙂 will pray fa yo normal delivery ..

  11. It’s so nice to hear bout ur experience ana…such a warm feeling :hug-makeup: But u actually watched childbirth videos???? 😯 For heaven’s sake, no woman shud do that! After all, we never get to see what’s happenin down there anyway :rotfl: My poor husband…i still can’t believe he witnessed it :-/

    • lol.. i no even my husband was.. even tho my husband s a doc n done n seen al o it before he was jaw stuck n petrified… lolz… he still tells me how disturbing it was.. lolz…

      • Madhura says:

it is disturbing indeed so see their beloved going thru such a pain.
i know someone who witnessed his wife’s delivery and decided not have another baby.
if it is made mandatory for husbands to be with their wife in labor room it will somewhat control the population growth.

      • hahah..we can’t imagine what we will be going thru than imagine the poor husband going thru it .

        • yeah but I srictly forbidden my husband to see my delivery. I perfecty know that he cant stand with it & wouldstart crying

        • Madhura says:

my husband was not allowed into OT. so he asked for the video to be made.
u know Ana when my husband showed me the video of my c-section i freaked out.
my belly was cut as though it was a whole jackfruit.
but it was so nice to see my babies coming to this world.
trust ur doctor she knows whats better for u.
if ur already prepared to endure the pain then it shouldn’t bother u much.

    • Nafisa..i did infact i have watched all the videos possible and yes i will not advise anyone to do that..its just too bad.

  12. oh yes, even I have heard that people are said to do the entire house cleaning themselves…but, I doubt it goes on till 8th or 9th month!!! guess, it gets stopped after 7th. comeon, I don’t think you can bend with that much weight…haan doing it with a handle is fine probably…seriously, waise delhi’s weather is so bad…you doing the exercises n all, you are just awesome 😀 yeah, don’t watch child birth videos!!!

  13. Poornima says:

Good luck to you Ana..for a normal and safe delivery :-))

I dreamt about you and your baby y’day…and thought I should write to you..

    Take care sweetie

  14. All the best and may god bless you with a normal delivery..
I am mom of 3 year old, when i was pregnant i used to walk a lot.. its true that walking alone wont help.. because Cesarean for me, my mom used to tell me to sweep the floor 10 times a day 🙂 but being a working women i was not able to do all those.. now i regret i should have done those too 🙁
I would advise you to be brave and start preparing your mind for normal delivery… Happy delivery!!!!

  15. hey ana, first of all all d best,i knw these days i mean d last few days,we tend to become restless, but patience is best if kept…next i wud like to tell u dnt be scared not even a bit… if u r confident,it might be a cakewalk fr u… i cn tell u coz i’ve had 2 deliveries, first ceaserian nd second normal.. n ppl still dont believe me dat after havin first c i hd my second normal…believe me normal is best dat dsnt mean c isnt good, its 2nd best hehehe 2 much of gyaan na bt i wnt 2 help u if icn in any way..tell ur doc to try fr normal till she cn,d pain might be unbearable,bt tolerate tolerate..dnt loose patience n opt fr c except if there’s no option(god forbid).. once u deliver thru normal u wnt evn remembr d pain, bus stitches juz tinge a bit a couple of days… nd in c-section it pains aftrwards n uptill several days… dnt go fr painless normal coz it hs a risk… wen u go fr ur labour n d doc tells u to push ,push in one stroke, dnt tk ur breath bck cz u hv to push it again,so better do in one go(like i did) believe me i was taken fr delivery at 8.10 pm n my son”s birth time is 8.21pm…yes in 11 mins flat including all preparations like undressing, injecting etc…patience is d key!!!! rest is luck… i wish u both a lot…too lenghthy na bt i thought i cud help so…
